However, you will be required to seek permission from your Doctor prior to commencing the program.

Do I need to exercise?
You sure do - but it doesn’t need to be strenuous. A 30 minute daily walk in the sunshine will stimulate the mood sensors in your brain, enhance your feeling of wellbeing and aid weight loss.
How long will it take?
Your BB consultant will advise the best course of action to reach your goals. Remember, fast weight loss often leads to regain and can be a sign of muscle or water loss. Our testing procedure will help determine the ideal rate of weight loss for you.
What about pregnancy?
It is not recommended that you go on the Betty Baxter program while pregnant. We recommend you talk to your primary healthcare practitioner such as your GP or a nutritionist/dietician to get suitable dietary advice for your specific requirements.
I have high blood pressure - will this program help me?
In many cases blood pressure reduces significantly on this plan. A reduction in blood pressure may mean a review of your medication. So keep in touch with your doctor. A sign of low blood pressure is light headedness.
Can diabetics use the program?
Absolutely. This program is well suited to non insulin dependent diabetics who are diet controlled. Those on medication should consult their dietitian or doctor prior to starting this program. Insulin dependent diabetics may use the program under the supervision of a dietitian or doctor.
What happens if I break the diet?
There can be stumbling blocks with any weight management plan, so we’ve tried to help you out. The BB Meal Replacement range is truly satisfying, with meals and snacks that stack up against higher calorie alternatives in taste tests. There’s enough variety for you to have a different Meal Replacement Flavour every day of the week. But it’s your plan, so it can be as flexible as you’d like it to be. If you fancy a break, then take one (particularly helpful at important events, such as birthday parties or weddings). Just be sure to restart the next day.
Can I eat out on this program?
It can be difficult to judge meal composition when eating out. A safe rule is to avoid the carbohydrates (pasta, rice, potato, bread etc) and choose lean meat and vegetables or salad. Good options would be beef / chicken / pork and vegetables at an Asian restaurant, or request shredded beef and salad at Mexican. Meat and salad is often an easy option.
What if I’m away from my normal pharmacy?
You can now purchase online which is perfect if you are away from your local pharmacy. Another option is to check our 'Store Locator' to find participating pharmacies in the area you are going. Otherwise, simply stock up before you go away!
How long is the Jump phase?
Once you reach Jump, you’ve reached your goal, and it’s time to get on with life. The Jump meal plan is a recipe for long term health and wellbeing so use it as your pattern to establish your own eating style.
What if I feel hungry?
You can always add a little extra salad or any free list vegies to your meals or snacks. Adding a fibre boost supplement (available from most pharmacies) to your shake will result in a fuller feeling. And you can check with your consultant about moving to the next phase of the program.
Why doesn’t everybody start at Hop?
Larger bodies needs more fuel (calories) to run basic metabolic functions. Men generally need a higher minimum calorie intake than women, and women over 170cm in height are likely to benefit from a higher minimum level as well. For this reason we recommend starting at the Skip Phase for these groups. It’s healthier, it’s easier and the results are likely to be more long lasting.
Can I use artificial sweeteners?
The use of artificial sweeteners is a personal choice. We don’t advise daily use of these products, however they provide options for additional food and drink choices which will not inhibit the weight reducing or mood effects of this dietary plan.
Is this a low carb program?
No, this approach to calorie reduction is more similar to the long-term eating habits that will be required to maintain your weight loss.
