Do Vibration Machines Actually Work?
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010Before I answer that question, I’ll answer the first question that is most likely popping into your head right now – what exactly is a vibration machine and how does it work?
My research indicates that vibration machines allow the user to stand on a platform and perform various “exercises” while the machine does what its name suggests – vibrates.
The machine is designed to vibrate at a variety of frequencies and it is these vibrations which are believed to cause a person’s muscles to contract and react. Manufacturers of vibration machines claim these vibrations allow your muscles to be used more effectively than if you were to simply do the exercises on stable ground.
Studies can be found which have shown that vibration machines can apparently reduce cellulite, decrease cortisol production and increase bone density amongst “other wonderful benefits”, however there is no hard and fast evidence that proves they actually improve these conditions.
Most people will hear about vibration machines and form the opinion that they are just another piece of exercise equipment that will quickly gather dust along with all the other exercise equipment that they have been seduced into buying due to promises of “amazing results”.
So, do they work?
The short answer is – we’ll let you be the judge. Like many things in life, if you stick to it and work hard, your dedication will pay off in dividends. Therefore, if you use your vibration machine regularly, in conjunction with practicing healthy eating habits, it will work.
Nothing beats proper exercise, it gets the influx of oxygen into the lungs, gets the heart pumping blood, nutrients and oxygen around the body and improves muscle tone.
This releases amazing endorphins, which amongst other things are fantastic mood stabilizers and make you feel good. Remember, the only way to get rid of fat is to oxidize it, in other words – burn it off with oxygen! A vibration machine won’t do this!
The question you have to ask yourself when considering a vibration machine is this – do you want to fork out the money for a machine that essentially won’t give you a better result than if you worked that little bit harder doing your regular exercise? Remember back in the cavemen days, there were no gyms or vibration machines – they just walked or ran around to grab their food.
The choice is yours!
